Cathodic Protection for Pipelines – Pipeline Coatings

Pipelines are utilized for the transportation of numerous important commodities in our society, including petroleum, natural gas, water, steam and more. Whether built above ground, below ground, or submerged in water, pipelines can experience corrosion in all cases. If unchecked, the pipelines can sustain damage or fail, which is both dangerous and expensive. At EGW Gas Solutions, we offer various coating options that help with cathodic protection for pipelines.

Cathodic protection is one of the most effective methods of preventing corrosion on pipelines. It is applied to pipelines and minimizes the damage of corrosive attacks. The area to be protected, the required current, and soil resistivity are all factors to take into account when utilizing these products. We can provide multiple pipeline coating solutions that help aid cathodic protection in stopping corrosion.

Denso Pipeline Coatings

Denso’s line of pipeline coatings provide fast dry times and high temperature resistance while providing excellent cathodic disbondment properties. Cathodic disbondment is the loss of adhesion between a cathodic coating and its metal substrate due to the products of corrosion reaction that take place in the interface of coatings. These products include Denso Protal 7200, Densyl Tape and Densyl Profiling Mastic.

Denso Protal 7200 can be applied by hand, spayed or machine applied in one coat, whether in the field or indoors. This epoxy cures fast and is specially formulated to compliment FBE coated pipe.

Densyl tape provides long-term resistance to corrosion for flanges, valves, pipes, and other associated surfaces. More complex shapes, such as flanged joints and valves can have a smooth profile with the application of Denso profiling mastic.
